Bio: Jose Alexander Zamudio is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Clinical Supervisor at a family autism center in Orlando, FL. He received his Master of Arts degree in Experimental Psychology from The University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley. Alex is extremely passionate about his work with his clients, which includes leading ABA programs for children with neurodevelopmental disorders, providing therapy for depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, conduct disorders, food-intake disorders, schizophrenia, and pervasive developmental disorders. Alex strives to promote quality implementation and treatment integrity across therapists.

Learning Objectives for Participants:

  1. Create operational definitions for overt and covert symptoms of anxiety.
  2. Identify the problematic contingencies that maintain symptoms of anxiety.
  3. Devise an individualized treatment package that will target the symptoms of anxiety for reduction while differentially reinforcing alternative replacement skills.
  4. Establish environmental modifications that will promote the maintenance of the replacement skills.

 Description of Type 2 / Learning CE Event: 

Applied Behavior Analysis predominantly treats pervasive developmental disorders; however the principles of behavior analysis can be effective in treating mental illness as well. In this course, we will use a behavior-analytic perspective to examine the verbal behavior emitted by individuals with anxiety, explore the contingencies that maintain symptoms of anxiety, and discuss functionally-equivalent replacement skills.
