Course Description: This guide provides science-based approaches for working with young children and families as they reach developmental milestones.  Content can be used to educate parents on topics related to early childhood development that include both genetic and environmental dispositions.  The effects of parental engagement on cognitive, social, and emotional growth are presented. Neurological development and stress responses are discussed.  Protective factors and effectiveness factors for early care and education programs are offered. The guide concludes with innovative recommendations for research and development.
