Course Description Racism and discrimination negatively impact the physical and mental health of individuals who identify as black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC). It is crucial to recognize the type of stereotyping, and the way it occurs toward BIPOC, to mitigate related negative effects. A cross-sectional online survey was conducted with white adults in the United States who volunteer and/or work with children. The aim of the study was to assess stereotypes targeting BIPOC, and the role of age as a mediating factor. Stereotype endorsement occurred more frequently towards blacks and other ethnic minorities, and least likely towards Asians, relative to whites. Stereotypes were found to be mediated by age; decreased negative stereotypes targeting young children were recorded less frequently than stereotypes directed at teens.
