Core Mindfulness and Anxiety - Live Online Interactive (6 CE)
This Course Is For: Psychologists, Social Workers, Counselors, and Marriage & Family Therapists
Course Format:Â This is a live, interactive online course taught by an instructor via Zoom. Participants are required to attend the live online workshop, participate in group discussion, and complete the course evaluation before earning the certificate of attendance.

Course Description: This workshop integrates key concepts of mindfulness-based theory from Eastern Zen philosophy, Western Contemplative practices, Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn's Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, as well as Dr. Marsha Linehan's Dialectical Behavior Therapy - not simply to treat anxiety disorders, but to help clients reconstruct a non-pathologizing life narrative. Core mindfulness skills such as non-judgmental self-observation, radical acceptance, balancing emotion mind with reasonable mind, nonattachment to thoughts and feelings, meditative practices, participating in reality in the moment, and affect regulation training will be addressed. Practical, clinically applicable experiential exercises and case illustrations will be included.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify historical antecedents and a clinical definition of core mindfulness, as well as its application in psychotherapy.
- Apply Dialectical Behavior Therapy’s (DBT) Core Mindfulness Skills to the treatment of anxiety.
- Describe the various therapeutic applications of Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program in relation to treat anxiety.
- Illustrate Commitment Therapy with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness to treat Anxiety Disorders.
- Summarize treatment models for Panic Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, PTSD, and child and adolescent anxiety disorders.

Course Completion Requirements:
Attendees must be present for the duration of the training as evidenced by the attendance report generated by Zoom, as well as complete the course evaluation to receive a certificate of credit.Â
Evaluation:
The course evaluation is accessible in your student account. After completing the training, log into your AATBS student account to complete the course evaluation.Â
How certificate is issued:
Upon verification of attendance and completion of the course evaluation, each participant will be able to access a personal CE certificate of attendance in their student account.
Approvals:
Association for Advanced Training in the Behavioral Sciences, provider #1085, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. AATBS maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 06/19/2021 – 06/19/2024. Social workers completing this course receive 6 Clinical continuing education credits.}
