Course Description:
In 2022, the APA released an updated version of the DSM. The DSM-5-TR includes changes to disorders and diagnostic criteria for several disorders. In this interactive self-paced CE, you will learn about the purpose of the DSM-5-TR updates, the process for revising the DSM, and the specific changes that have been made to disorders and diagnostic criteria. Additionally, you will learn about changes made in the DSM-5-TR pertaining to cultural concepts, attention to culture, racism, and discrimination.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Explain the purpose behind the DSM-5-TR updates.
  2. Identify and summarize, new, modified, and eliminated diagnostic criteria and classifications in the DSM-5-TR.
  3. Identify and summarize additional changes made to the DSM-5-TR including: Cultural Concepts and Attention to Culture, Racism and Discrimination, Addition of Diagnostic Criteria for suicidal behavior and non-suicidal self injury, DSM and diagnosis for children, Coding, Changes to Section III.

Course Outline:

  1. Complete each of the interactive modules for the course, including all participation activities. During the module, respond to each knowledge check and hit "submit". At the end of each module, click on the star to access the final submit screen.
  2. At the end of each module, complete the corresponding module quiz with 100% accuracy before moving on to the next module.
  3. When all three modules and module quizzes have been completed, complete the final post-test with 80% accuracy.
  4. Complete the course evaluation before receiving for your certificate of completion.
  5. Download certificate of completion.
