This course is for: Introductory and Intermediate; LMFTs, Social Workers, LPCCs, Nurses, Substance Abuse Counselors, and mental health clinicians.

Course Format: This is a self-paced (non-interactive), online course. Participants are required to read the course materials and complete a post-test with a score of 75% or higher.

Course Description: In this presentation, we explore the formal diagnostic criteria and typical presenting symptoms of eating disorders, and delineate the differential diagnoses between eating disorders and other clinical syndromes. We identify the various mental health professionals who interact with this population, evaluate the appropriateness of different treatment settings, and set forth a variety of theoretical lenses and models (e.g., psychodynamic, systems, feminist, behavioral) that conceptualize assessment and treatment procedures. Also presented are treatment issues for special populations, including children, males, and clients for whom self-injury or suicide is present.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the current DSM criteria for Eating Disorders as well as biological, sociological, and addiction models.
  2. Identify and name common co-occurring disorders and techniques of differentiation.
  3. Describe his/her role on a treatment team and in different treatment settings.
  4. Use appropriate assessment measures and make decisions about treatment planning that meet client needs.
  5. Develop treatment interventions for special clients, including children, males and other at-risk populations.

Course Completion Requirements: All course materials are included in your AATBS student account. Attendees must read the course material and complete the accompanying test with a score of 75% or higher. Customers may retest if they score below 75%.

Evaluation: The course evaluation is also accessible in your student account. After completing the course, you will need to complete the course evaluation.

How certificate is issued: When all requirements for the course have been successfully completed, customers will be able to access and print a personal CE certificate in their student account.
