Course Description: Evidence-based practice (EBP) involves the conscientious, explicit, and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about individuals’ care. This approach requires a search for knowledge, as well as problem-solving and decision-making skills. Researchers conducted a systematic review regarding the best way to educate social work students concerning the process of EBP and/or the application of empirically supported treatments (ESTs). Further investigation is needed concerning the effectiveness of specific teaching methods that use controlled designs and real-life situations.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the 3 research questions identified in the study and the methods related to the education of social work students regarding the process of evidence-based practice as examined in the article
- Analyze the data by exploring the 27 studies that met the researcher’s eligibility criteria in conjunction with the discussed findings
- Integrate the 6 study limitations with the identified areas suggested for future research
Course Outline:
- Read and understand How to Teach Evidence-Based Practice in Social Work: A Systematic Review
