Course Description: Occupational stress and work recovery have been researched using various conceptual facets. Five well-established concepts that pertain to work-related thoughts when an individual is not working were scrutinized in this study. These concepts included: (1) psychological detachment, (2) affective rumination, (3) problem-solving pondering, (4) positive work reflection, and (5) negative work reflection. It was determined that a high level of overlap was existent between various terms (e.g. psychological detachment, cognitive irritation) even though the five facets of work-related rumination were distinct from related concepts (e.g. burnout, work engagement) that have previously been identified in other studies.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Review the five concepts described as work-related rumination
  2. Consider each of the concepts and how they relate to other researchers’ terms (e.g. burnout)
  3. Evaluate the statistical findings and overall analyses of the study
  4. Review the conclusions and further applications

Course Outline:

  1. Read thoroughly My Mind is Working Overtime-Towards an Integrative Perspective of Psychological Detachment, Work-Related Rumination, and Work Reflection
  2. Review the Course Description and Learning Objectives
  3. Consider the five conceptual explanations concomitant with the statistical results in the accompanying article
  4. Complete the post-test questions keeping in mind that the answers should come from the article provided
  5. Return to the article for any missed questions and/or to better understand each of the five described concepts

Course Completion Requirements: All course materials are included in your AATBS student account. Attendees must read the course material and complete the accompanying test with a score of 75% or higher. Customers may retest if they score below 75%.

Evaluation: The course evaluation is also accessible in your student account. After completing the course, you will need to complete the course evaluation.

How certificate is issued: When all requirements for the course have been successfully completed, customers will be able to access and print a personal CE certificate in their student account.
