Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder exhibiting lifelong deficits in social communication and interaction, as well as restricted repetitive behaviors, interests, and activities. While pharmacological treatments for autism are lacking, repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) has recently been suggested due to potential therapeutic value. In the current study, meta-analyses showed a significant but moderate effect on repetitive and stereotypes behaviors, social behavior, and the number of errors in executive functioning tasks. Overall, existing evidence supports that TMS could be useful to treat some dimensions of ASD.

Course Description: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder exhibiting lifelong deficits in social communication and interaction, as well as restricted repetitive behaviors, interests, and activities. While pharmacological treatments for autism are lacking, repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) has recently been suggested due to potential therapeutic value.
