ASWB Exam Schedule: Important Testing Center Changes and Updates
Amy Weil
Change is on the horizon for candidates preparing for the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) exams. The ASWB has announced that beginning January 2, 2024, all testing will take place exclusively at PSI test centers. This transition carries important implications for those seeking licensure in social work and those preparing to schedule their ASWB exam.
Getting Acquainted with PSI Testing Platform
One of the key takeaways from this transition is the necessity for test-takers to familiarize themselves with the PSI testing platform. While ASWB exam registrations will continue as usual, the actual testing environment will now be hosted by PSI. This shift underscores the importance of ensuring that candidates are comfortable with the new platform to maximize their performance on exam day.
Brief Interruption in Testing Appointments
To facilitate this transition, the ASWB has announced a brief hiatus in testing appointments. Between December 16 and December 31, 2023, no testing appointments will be available. This means that candidates who are planning to take their exams during this period will need to adjust their schedules accordingly.
Furthermore, candidates who register for their exams on or after November 1, 2023 will automatically be scheduled to test at a PSI test center starting from January 2, 2024. It is crucial for these individuals to plan and schedule accordingly, keeping in mind the new testing location.
If You Prefer Pearson VUE Testing, Act Now
For those who prefer to test at Pearson VUE centers, the ASWB recommends scheduling your exam as soon as possible.. Testing appointments in late 2023 are limited and are filling up now. To avoid any inconvenience, candidates should schedule their exams early if they wish to test with Pearson VUE by December 15, 2023.
Consistency in Exam Questions and Scoring
Despite the change in testing centers, the exam questions and scoring will stay the same. Whether you take your exam now or after the testing center transition, you can expect the same exam content and standards. Candidates can find comprehensive details about the examination process in the Exam Guidebook provided by the ASWB.
Extension Options for Registration
For those who may be affected by events or individual circumstances that impact their ability to test before their registration expiration date, the ASWB will offer the possibility of requesting an extension (pending board approval). This offers some flexibility for candidates who may need additional time to prepare or encounter unexpected delays.
Stay Informed
To stay up to date with the evolving testing landscape, candidates will receive emails from the ASWB detailing the changes to test scheduling in 2024. It is imperative that candidates keep an eye on their email inboxes for these important updates.
