Changes Coming to the ASWB Social Work Exam
Changes Coming to the ASWB Social Work Exam
July 15, 2017Changes Coming to the ASWB Social Work Licensing Exams!
Did you know the social work licensing exams are changing in 2018?
The changes, which were recently announced by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), will be implemented for all levels of the exam starting January 1, 2018. (For a more detailed breakdown of the changes and their schedule, see the ASWB Timeline.)
Students wishing to take the present version of the ASWB exam can only do so before December 31, 2017.
The recent changes are the result of an analysis conducted by the ASWB from 2015 to 2016. They mainly involve reordering and renaming content areas, although a few topics are receiving extensive changes.
The Advanced Generalist level of the exam is the one that will see the most extensive changes. It is being restructured from five content areas to four, with the total number of competencies reduced by half. To learn more about these changes, see the ASWB pie chart showing the changes at the Advanced Generalist level.
To learn more about changes to the Bachelor’s level exam, see the ASWB pie chart for changes at the Bachelor’s level.
To learn more about changes to the Master’s level exam, see the ASWB pie chart for changes at the Master’s level.
To learn more about changes to the Clinical level exam, see the ASWB pie chart showing the changes at the Clinical level.
