Should I Study for EPPP Part 1 and Part 2 at the Same Time?

The EPPP (Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology) is a two-part exam that assesses knowledge and competency in the field of psychology. Part 1 covers topics such as biological bases of behavior, cognitive-affective bases of behavior, social and multicultural bases of behavior, and growth and lifespan development. Part 2 focuses on assessment, relational competence, scientific orientation, collaboration, consulation, supervision, and ethical, and professional issues.

We would recommend studying for each exam separately so that you have the opportunity to dedicate your time and attention to each individual test. As both parts of the EPPP focus on very different aspects of your training as a psychologist (knowledge versus clinical application) you may benefit the most from study materials, study groups, practice exams, and more by starting with the EPPP Part 1 (the prerequisite for the EPPP Part 2 exam) and, once that exam has been passed, moving on to start studying for the EPPP Part 2.

It's important to note that both parts of the EPPP offer rigorous and challenging exams, and studying for these exams requires a significant amount of your time and effort. It's important to create a study schedule that is realistic and allows you to balance your other commitments and responsibilities. Additionally, seeking guidance and support from coaches, professionals or peers in the field of psychology may also be helpful in preparing for the exams.
