Course Description: This course is intended for practitioners and government officials working on the micro and macro level that are encouraging change in policy and legislation for this public health emergency of opioid use in the United States. Major dimensions of opioid crisis are described including six key actions every state should take. Each state is listed and graded that helps to inform the reader of progress and further needed action. Recommendations to guide states are provided in developing and strengthening laws, regulations, improving state grade, and ultimately saving lives. This article is intended as a communication tool to highlight best practices and state level actions.
